چکیده

We show the construction of the dual superconducting theory for the confinement mechanism from QCD in the maximally abelian (MA) gauge using the lattice QCDMonte Carlo simulation. We find that essence of infrared abelian dominance is naturally understood with the off-diagonal gluon mass moff ≃ 1.2GeV induced by the MA gauge fixing. In the MA gauge, the off-diagonal gluon amplitude is forced to be small, and the off-diagonal gluon phase tends to be random. As the mathematical origin of abelian dominance for confinement, we demonstrate that the strong randomness of the off-diagonal gluon phase leads to abelian dominance for the string tension. In the MA gauge, there appears the macroscopic network of the monopole world-line covering the whole system. We investigate the monopole-current system in the MA gauge by analyzing the dual gluon field Bμ. We evaluate the dual gluon mass as mB = 0.4 ∼ 0.5GeV in the infrared region, which is the lattice-QCD evidence of the dual Higgs mechanism by monopole condensation. Owing to infrared abelian dominance and infrared monopole condensation, QCD in the MA gauge is describable with the dual Ginzburg-Landau theory.

We study abelian dominance and monopole condensation for the quark confinement physics using the lattice QCD simulations in the MA gauge. These phenomena are closely related to the dual superconductor picture of the QCD vacuum, and enable us to construct the dual Ginzburg-Landau (DGL) theory as an useful effective theory of nonperturbative QCD. We then apply the DGL theory to the studies of the...

Non-perturbative Hamiltonian Approaches to Strong Interaction Physics

The theory of the strong interactions, Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), has been addressed by a variety of non-perturbative techniques over the decades since its introduction. We have investigated Hamiltonian formulations with different quantization methods and approximation schemes. In one method, we utilize light-front coordinates to investigate the role of bosonic zero modes in leading to confi...

Quarks, partons and Quantum Chromodynamics Lecture notes on the phenomenology of the quark-parton model and Quantum Chromodynamics

The elements of the quark-parton model and its incorporation within the framework of perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics are laid out. The development of the basic concept of quarks as fundamental constituents of matter is traced in considerable detail, emphasizing the interplay of experimental observations and their theoretical interpretation. The relation of quarks to partons, invented by Fey...

Lattice QCD — from quark confinement to asymptotic freedom

According to the present understanding, the observed diversity of the strong interaction phenomena is described by Quantum Chromodynamics, a gauge field theory with only very few parameters. One of the fundamental questions in this context is how precisely the world of mesons and nucleons is related to the properties of the theory at high energies, where quarks and gluons are the important degr...

1. Introduction High-energy processes in nuclear media provide important tests of quantum chromodynamics, since in principle one can use the nuclear environment to perturb and study the mechanisms involved in confinement and hadronization. In this talk I will discuss several examples of nuclear effects in QCD affecting the propagation and hadronization of quarks and gluons in nuclear matter. Th...
